GIVING BIRTH ANOTHER TAKIN BROKE THE WORLD'S RECORD

TWO female Takins, which are well preserved at the National Kandawgyi Park in Pyin Oo Lwin as one of the world's endangered species, gave birth to a she-Takin each, on last Feb. 19 and Mar. 8 respectively.

In fact, this was the first event of giving birth of two she-Takins within 20 days. Again on April 8 2005 another female Takin also gave birth a he-Takin in this same park and this broke the world's record of being able to produce three babies-Takin in just within 50 days from the one park.

Their father, age of 1 year and three months, is called "Nga Paing" and they all (father & three mothers) were originally from Putao district, Kachin State, in far north of Myanmar. They were brought to Pyin Oo Lwin's National Kandawgyi Park beginning of 2002. The park is now being crowded with visitors far and near to have a look at this Takin family.
